DRILLING COMMENCES AT WEST PLAINS AND ANURI
COMMITTEE BAY GREENSTONE PROJECT, NUNAVUT, CANADA
July 4, 2006
Committee Bay Resources Ltd. (CBR-TSXV) has commenced drilling at the 100% owned Committee Bay project located northeast of Baker Lake, Nunavut. The Company has set a $3 million budget for the Phase 1 exploration program, with a minimum of 3,500 metres (m) of drilling to be completed from late June through August. The summer drill program will focus on following up significant results from the 2005 exploration program. Phase 2 budgeting will be based on initial results, with a focus on drill testing high priority targets.
One drill rig has commenced work on the high priority West Plains target, where in 2005, drill hole 05WP004 intersected 6.04 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (Au) over 36.77 m containing two separate high grade intervals of 25.3 g/t Au over 3.07 m and 13.39 g/t Au over 3.04 m (see CBR Press Release - August 25, 2005).
A second drill rig is scheduled to commence drilling during the first week of July at the Anuri area to focus on defining the source of a nearly 2 km long high-grade boulder train that has yielded assays up to 291.2 g/t Au and 1,769 g/t Ag (see CBR Press Release – November 15, 2005).
Additional drilling will also be considered along strike of the Three Bluffs gold resource (see CBR Press Release - November 29, 2004 and August 4, 2005). New, high-priority regional targets include Bluff 7, located 10 km northeast of Three Bluffs, where samples of mineralized iron formation have returned assays up to 15.68 g/t Au, and at the Betwixt-Ridge trend, located approximately 12 km north of Three Bluffs, where samples of mineralized iron formation have returned assays up to 186.1 g/t Au.
In addition to the planned drill program, Committee Bay will be conducting fieldwork programs focused on generating drill targets at several known gold occurrences. Detailed mapping, sampling, gridding and ground geophysical survey work is planned for the West Plains area in order to further examine the magnetic (Mag) and electromagnetic (EM) anomaly that hosts the Lowlands gold occurrence. A similar sized magnetic anomaly (+/- coincident EM anomalies) exists in the Anuri area adjacent to the Central Tonalite and will also be the focus of detailed fieldwork in 2006.
CBR maintains an extensive quality control program in the preparation, shipping and checking of all samples from the property. The program is supervised by Dean McDonald, P.Geo. Ph.D., Vice President of the Company, who is the Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101.
The Committee Bay greenstone belt is 300 km long and is one of the longest and least explored greenstone belts in Canada. The Company holds greater than 900,000 acres of land with prospective geology in the Committee Bay area and controls over 85% of the belt. Committee Bay controls major greenstone belts in Nunavut and Western Australia and has the opportunity to conduct year-round exploration on three continents in order to build on its existing gold resources.
